Love Will Tear Us Apart guest performance at Teatro Grande di Brescia

A solo focusing on the relation between dance and pop music, titled Love Will Tear Us Apart, is the first part of the trilogy by Saše Božić and Petra Hrašćanec together with additional two performances, i.e. Boys Don’t Cry and the_beatles.
In the solo Petra Hrašćanec explores the boundaries of rock concerts, confessional form and abstract dance, alternating dance numbers with on selected post-punk and rock love songs. In-between the dance numbers, there are parts where the dancer explains seemingly unimportant details about the realization of the production, deciphering a subtle equation of power relations at the same time defining the performance act.
Love Will Tear Us Apart is one of the most popular Croatian dance performances for which Hrašćanec was awarded the Croatian Theatre Award in 2012. The solo premiered in 2011 at the Zagreb Contemporary Dance Week. Over the past four years, the solo was performed at the most prominent festivals in Croatia and abroad, i.e. in Brussels, Dublin, Milan and Paris, where it was a guest performance at one of the best-known contemporary dance theatres – Theatre de la Bastille.
Love Will Tear Us Apart will be also performed at Teatro Grande di Brescia on 30 October as a part of the theatre’s repertoire. In the field of dance, this acclaimed Italian opera house with more than 300 years of cultural tradition hosts some of the best-known international performers, such as Batsheva Dance Company from Israel, Aterballetto as the most prominent Italian dance company, Akram Khan or ‘one of the most distinguished names of contemporary dance’, Svetlana Zakharova- a prima ballerina with the Bolshoi Ballet and many others.

The guest performance is co-financed by the Croatia House Foundation.
